Audience Engagement - Zombieland Double Tap

Zombieland and Zombieland Double Tap where both directed by Ruben Fleischer and stared Woody Harrelson (Tallahassee), Jesse Einsenburg (Columbus), Emma Stone (Wichita), and Abigail Breslin (Little Rock). This movie had a budget of only $23.6 million dollars and made a box office amount of $102.4 million, making it one of the most successful movies of all time. A major contributor was a very successful marketing campaign which was modeled of of Deadpool.

Posters: The first poster that was released was a presented side-by-side with that of the original poster. Both showed that violence and atmosphere of the film. This hyped viewers who where fans of the original movie because it showed the characters all grown up. Another poster was released that showed them standing on a deserted desert highway ready for action. It was used to thematically connect the new film with the older one. Later on, Individual character posters where created, both returning and new characters, presented in front of a bold neon title which was meant to draw the audience into how much fun they'll have watching.


Trailers: The first trailer was released on YouTube in July, it quickly exploded to 14.4 million views. The trailers show the fun and entertaining atmosphere of the movie and announces the return of all the original cast members that the fans love. The next trailer which was a red-band trailer also showed the basic overview of the story, just with a little more violence and cursing.

Billboards: Billboard usage was used just like the film Deadpool, they where created to show and demonstrate the "fun violence" of the film. Billboards had the same design of the posters for the film but there where also billboards with the full cast. They used extremely vibrant colors to not only grab the attention of the pedestrians but to show the tone of the film.
